Non Destructive Testing & Related Services
Non Destructive Testing (NDT), Non Destructive Evaluation (NDE) and Non
Destructive Inspection (NDI) are the terms used to represent the techniques
that are based on the application of physical principles employed for the
purpose of determining the characteristics of materials or components or
systems and for detecting and assessing the inhomogeneities and harmful
defects without impairing the usefulness of such materials or components of
systems.
NDT plays an important role not only in quality control of the finished product
but also during various stages of manufacturing. NDT is also used for condition
monitoring of various items during operation to predict and access the
remaining life of the component while retaining its structural integrity. NDT
enables optimum utilization of components without sacrificing safety. The use
of microprocessors for data acquisition and processing and automated devices
for reliable testing have vastly improved the condition monitoring on complex
components and plants. The operator dependency for routine inspection is
reduced and thus the person can concentrate more on the technological
aspects. The end result is the saving in time, cost and improvement in precision
and reliability of the results obtained.
NDT methods range from the simple to the intricate. Visual inspection is the
simplest of all. Surface imperfections invisible to the eye may be revealed by
Penetrant and magnetic methods. If serious surface defects are found, there is
often little point in proceeding further to the more complicated examination of
the interior by other methods like ultrasonics or radiography. The principal
NDT methods are Visual or Optical Inspection, Liquid Penetrant Testing,
Magnetic Particle Testing, Radiography Testing, Ultrasonic Testing, Eddy
Current Testing, Helium Leak Detection, etc.

Dye Penetrant Testing (DPT), also known as Liquid Penetrant Testing (LPT), is a non-destructive testing (NDT) technique used to detect surface-breaking defects or discontinuities in materials such as metals, plastics, and ceramics. DPT is a widely used testing method in industries such as aerospace, automotive, manufacturing, and construction.
Dye Penetrant Testing involves the application of a liquid penetrant, typically a colored dye, to the surface of the material being tested. The penetrant is then allowed to seep into any cracks or defects in the surface through capillary action. After a suitable dwell time, excess penetrant is removed, and a developer, typically a white powder, is applied to the surface. The developer draws out the penetrant from the defects, creating a visible indication that can be easily detected.
Dye Penetrant Testing can be performed on a variety of surfaces, including rough, smooth, porous, and non-porous surfaces. The testing method can detect defects such as cracks, porosity, laps, seams, and other surface irregularities.
Dye Penetrant Testing services are provided by many companies and can be performed on-site or in-house. The benefits of DPT include increased product quality, reduced risk of failure or accidents, improved safety, and compliance with regulatory standards.
Overall, Dye Penetrant Testing is an essential NDT technique that helps to ensure the quality and integrity of materials and components, and prevent failures and accidents.

Fluorescent magnetic particle inspection (MPI) is a type of non-destructive testing (NDT) service that is used to detect surface and sub-surface discontinuities in ferromagnetic materials. This method uses a magnetic field and a magnetic particle solution that contains fluorescent particles.
During the inspection process, the magnetic field is applied to the component, and the fluorescent magnetic particle solution is sprayed onto the surface. If there are any surface or sub-surface discontinuities present in the material, the magnetic particles will be attracted to these areas and form an indication. The fluorescent particles will then illuminate under UV light, making it easier to detect any potential defects.
Fluorescent MPI service is commonly used in industries such as aerospace, automotive, construction, and manufacturing to detect defects such as cracks, porosity, and inclusions in components such as engine blocks, gears, and pipelines. This method is highly reliable and efficient, and it can help to prevent failures, reduce downtime, and ensure the safety and integrity of critical components.
Our organization is engaged in offering a wide assortment of Fluorescent MPI Service to our clients. These services are rendered by professionals. In addition to this, these MPI services are offered at reasonable and affordable rates.

Either an X-ray machine or a radioactive source (Ir-192 or Co-60) can be used as a source of photons.
Since the amount of radiation emerging from the opposite side of the material can be detected and measured, variations in this amount (or intensity) of radiation are used to determine the availability of flaws or discontinuities in the material. Penetrating radiations are those restricted to that part of the electromagnetic spectrum of wavelength less than about 10 nanometres.
The purpose of Radiography Testing is to show the presence and nature of defects or other structural discontinuities in the interior of the materials under examination. Radiography makes the use of the ability of short wavelength electromagnetic radiations, such as X-ray or Gamma ray, to penetrate objects. In general, the shorter the wavelength, greater the penetrating power. The radiation that enters through the material, some being absorbed in the material itself and amount of absorption is a function of the density, thickness and atomic number of the material. Should there be any cavity or discontinuity in the interior of the material, the beam of radiation will have less material to pass through than in solid material. Consequently there will be a variation in the absorption of the rays by the material in the defective area. The variation, if measured or recorded on a film sensitive to X-ray or Gamma ray, produces an image that will indicate the presence of the defect. The image is an X-ray or Gamma ray shadow of the interior of the material. Thus, radiography is essentially based on the principle of shadow projection and such a shadow picture is called a Radiograph. Variations in the darkness may be interpreted to provide information concerning the internal structure of the material. The basic setup essentially consists of a source of radiation, the object to be radiographed and a detector which is normally a sheet of photographic film.
Advantages 1. Best NDT method for detection of volumetric discontinuities.
2. Internal flaws could be precisely located.
3. Records/Radiographs could be stored forever.

Coil magnetic particle testing (MPT) is a non-destructive testing method used to detect surface and subsurface defects in ferromagnetic materials such as iron, steel, and nickel. The technique involves inducing a magnetic field in the material and applying magnetic particles to the surface. The magnetic particles will accumulate at areas of magnetic flux leakage caused by defects in the material.
During coil MPT, a high-frequency alternating current is passed through a coil, creating a magnetic field in the material. The material is then coated with a magnetic particle suspension, which is attracted to areas of magnetic flux leakage, highlighting any surface or subsurface defects.
Coil MPT is commonly used in industries such as automotive, aerospace, and manufacturing to detect defects in components such as engine blocks, turbine blades, and pipes. The technique is particularly useful for detecting cracks, corrosion, and other defects that may not be visible to the naked eye.
Overall, coil magnetic particle testing is an important non-destructive testing method that can help businesses ensure the safety and reliability of their ferromagnetic components. By identifying and addressing defects early on, businesses can avoid costly downtime and repairs, as well as minimize the risk of accidents and failures.
